Startup programs are programs that are automatically started by Windows when the operating system starts. The problem is that many programs, viruses, hijackers, spyware, and other malware set themselves to start automatically when Windows starts. As more and more programs are started automatically, your computers valueable resources are drained, thus making your computer start to operate slow.

To examine your computer for programs that are automatically started by Windows, you can download and run HijackThis (freeware).

You can also post the results of the scan in our Forum and we will let you know if the startup programs that you find on your computer are considered to be malware (harmful), unnecessary to run, or necessary to run. If you require assistance in removing one of these startups you can ask us in this Forum.
There are two programs that are recommended to try first in the Spyware removal process and the best thing about them is that they are free.

These programs are Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-aware SE.
We then use a third program, called HijackThis, to remove the rest of the infections that these two programs were unable to remove.

If you have not already run Spybot - Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware SE, please use both programs to clean up as much malware as possible before submitting a HijackThis log.
