What I've tried so far? Installed Media Player 9, 10, 11 removing the previous media player each time. However I than found that even mplayer2.exe won't play any of these files. I reregistered every single dll starting with wm*.dll within the System32 folder, which made no difference. Checked file associations. OK Checked wav files could be played on earlier build computer. OK Does anyone know how to reregister Windows Media Player from scratch. Solution Install Gspot and open notify.wav. http: Look at the bottom and you'll see info about Dshow attempting to open the file. On my system (which is fine) file was successfully rendered and "wave parser" was the audio codec. This is a part of quartz.dll. Zachd recommends taking a restore point, and then registering quartz.dll and devenum.dll using regsvr32. (This files are in \windows\system32) |
