This will get around the small problem of not being able to download things of the internet because of restrictions placed on your user account at school or work.
1) First copy the URL of the thing your trying to download. If you are just redirected when you try to download then right click on the link and look at properties. As shown below
| Firefox: |
 |
| IE: |
 |
2) Next open notpad. The usual way to do this is click start>all programs>accessories>notepad. However sometimes the evil admins will not give you access to notepad through the start menu. If it is not listed there then just open your browser and click view>page source. If this is also disabled then just try opening any .txt file in your directory. If you have none then just change the exension of a useless file to .txt.
3) Once notepad is open simply click file>open.
Then simply paste the file path into the open field.
Click open. If the file you are trying to download is abit big there might be abit of lag but hold on.
4) Once its opened it will probably just look like a bunch of jibberish. All you have to do now is click file> save as and then save this bunch of jibberish on your local computer.
There we have it! Not the most complex thing but it works 8/10 times it saves alot of messing around.
