Fix my Error!

I have been battling with Gothic 3 recently, determined to get the game running. I have overcome the "black box" problem that many people have and seem to have downgraded the graphics enough that it's memory eating problem doesn't affect me any more. However, I've got a new one. It seems to happen when I'm loading a game - not always first time (ie from title screen on loadup), but often. At the point where, I think, the loading bar would move up to 100% (it sits on about 90% for a while - picture of a dinosaur in a river), the screen goes black, although the music continues playing. After a minute, it becomes windowed in the centre of my screen, still black. I got impatient before and used Task Manager to get out of it, but last time an error message came up similar to the memory problem. The window title was 'Where is the guru?" as before, but this time the text read: Gothic3 engine FATAL ERROR Module: eCEntity::Read V83-illegal block detected Can't read propertyset 'gCInteraction_PS' of entity: G3_Object_Interact_Animated_Chest_01. End block isn't correct Filename: Memory statistics -------------------- ----> memory allocation summary <--- I had to copy it to paper so it may not be quite write format-wise. Filename is in < brackets from before E: to after .cpp (message didn't display them if I left them in). I am running the game patched with v1.12 and also the community v1.4 patch. It is a legal second-hand copy of the game - problem seems to occur with or without a no-cd exe. My pc is an Athlon 64 X2 5000+ Dual-Core, Radeon X800XT, 1.5Gb RAM, Windows XP Home SP2. Can anyone help? Many thanks. Last edited by DSKSilver; 29-Aug-2007 at 09:20 AM. |
