Default to the Left

Hi frnds

I m not sure if this is the correct place to post this query as it is not a particular game specific. But quite a few games mostly arcades and RPG like GTA, Carmageddon don't run on my PC properly.

As soon as the game starts the Subject starts running towards the left. To make the Subject go straight I need to press the right arrow key and there is now way i can turn right.

Hope this makes sense, pls let me know if you need any details regarding my hardware and software platform if that might be causing the problem.

sure i need some hardware specific details..., First, what keyboard do you have, which Operating System and is this a Desktop PC, or a laptop?

It's a P-IV Desktop PC, 200GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Pleomax(Samsung) Multimedia Keyboard (pretty new one). I am running Win XP Pro SP2.

hmm, when you type something in word lets say, does the cursor go to the left?

i hope it isn't:P

most likely is that your keyboard doesn't work with DirectX, try updating to latest version (dec. 2006), and if you have that one, try downgrading.

Definitely it doesn't go left while typing... : ) (Thank God!!)

I have DirectX 9.0c installed as I use 3ds Max v.8. The keyboard works well in 3ds Max so I guess the problem is not of DirectX and my keyboard compatibility. It only happens in a few games. There was similar problem in my cousin's computer when playing Spiderman game.

My friend has a similar configuration and installations and these games run perfectly well on his system!!

I have even tried installing GTA the first thing after reinstalling my Win XP Pro afresh and still it gave same problem. Is there any chance that it is some problem with my PC hardware rather than any software conflicts...?

If it was a hardware problem, it would do the same problem in office etc.

I still think DirectX is the problem, because games use advanced functions. These functions are not used by 3ds max v8 and lower, not sure about v9. anyway, you can always try to update your DirectX.

The games that you are experiencing this problem with, are the cracked?

I have seen this happen on cracked games before, more specifically one ones where you need to use a no-cd crack to play them (BF42, GTA are ones that come to mind).
