Default Suggest Desktop Database

Hello, I am trying to automate some school processes. For this I clearly need: 1. A small footprint database. Something that will run on a P3 128M/XP just fine 2. A visual SQL builder tool that can be used by non-technical teaching staff that they can use to create SQL queries. I would like to rule out all commercial databases and stick to Open Source databases only. Please recommend a database and visual SQL tool that are so fool proof and easy to use, that even children of the school should be able to use it. TIA

The database will primarily be used for a small primary school. Activities with database will be like: 1. maintain student personal details 2. maintain student academic records 3. maintain staff attendence records 4. maintain staff salary records 5. maintain inventory 6. create mass mailers Can you suggest a comprehensive opensource solution?

I don't think there's already such a program so the only way (i think) is to script it yourself or let it be done by a company...(i'm also a company:P)

I think it's good idea but it takes much time to create bug-free scripts
so i dnt think there are much people that want to do it for $0...
