When Sony introduced Remote Play into PlayStation 3's functionality, the initial response to realizing you can watch what's happening on your PS3 from another room is
cool, but the practical applications are pretty limited. You can't, for example, use the PSP as a remote control for the Blu-ray player. Still, it's nifty in concept, and apparently
Sony will roll out more features, says
BBC News (via
PSP Fanboy). The goal is to have complete control over the devices interacting with your PS3, says
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe spokesman Jonathan Fargher. "We're hoping to incorporate that functionality in the very near future -- from a local level at the moment to a global level probably within the next six months," said Fargher. "If I have my MP3 Walkman or my iPod, or digital camera connected to PS3 then I can access those devices too."
Fargher doesn't mean from the room over, either. You should be able to have your brother plug in his digital camera at home and be able to access the photos on there from the other side of the country -- maybe even the world. That, folks, is far more deserving of
cool.
