Things are looking up for PS3 these days -- not only is the new, cheaper 40GB model generating massive excitement for the system, but Sony's next-gen console seems to keep racking up awards as well. The latest honor for PlayStation 3 was winning the coveted Gadget Of The Year 2007 trophy from T3 over rivals Wii and Xbox 360. Surprisingly, Xbox 360 was awarded as the Best Gaming Gadget. Their reasoning is as follows:

"So, how come..." you're asking, "...this is Gadget O' The Year, when it's merely a runner-up in the Gaming category?" We say this: the PS3 doesn't so much move the goalposts for gadgets as hack them down and use them to build a very small shed with. In that shed is kept multimedia functionality the Xbox 360 can only dream of: one of the best Blu-Ray players to date, brilliant synergy with the PSP, and, just over the horizon, a stream of top add-ons, such as the TV tuner.

Wii additionally won an award -- the "One For The Ladies" trophy. Apparently, there was no senior citizens category or we're sure Nintendo's console would have cleaned up there as well.
