![]() Anyone still choking on the proposed cost of the forthcoming PS3 console can choke on, and forget any hope of price reductions. The games division of Sony – Sony Computer Entertainment – was the only division one to post a loss in the most recent quarterly financial results. As well as PS3 woes, PSP handheld sales plummeted by 72 per cent against the same quarter in 2005. However, chief financial officer, Nobuyuki Oneda, stomped on any rumours [and fervent prayers] that the PS3 price would be lowered to boost sales, saying there will be no cuts for at least “2-3 years’. Ironically, according to Sony, the loss was partly caused because the company had to lower the original price of the PS3 in Japan, due to poor consumer feedback. So, effectively, you’re getting a bargain already at £425. Aren’t you lucky?-Martin Lynch source:Gizmodo UK : Gizmodo - The Gadget Blog |
