PlayStation 3 Arcade 500MB limit

layStation 3's digital download service is expected to be populated with old school arcade classics as well as new titles, a la Xbox 360's XBLA. Xbox 360's Live Arcade, however, has a 50MB limit. PS3, with its large hard drive, will allow for ten times that space, according to a new report by Eurogamer.
"We've arbitrarily set a limit of 500MB to keep download times reasonable," said says John Hight, director of external development at Sony's Santa Monica studio. "[But] Since we've got plenty of HD space we can accommodate even bigger games and a lot of them."
Blast Factor and Cash Guns Chaos are already topping the fifty meg space and are being sold through the online Store. Another perk to the PS3 service is that downloaded games will be transferable to up to five PlayStation consoles. Hight says this is because "our customers don’t always stay in one spot – they’re on the move."
