Default Sandbox And the Google Delay Filter, Definitions for use on this forum

Simply for this forum (we don't care if anyone else anywhere else believes this or not) here are some definitions we are using:

If your site is less than 6 months old, it is being repressed on Google by some sort of Tweaking, linking, resassembling your pages, and begging Google to tell you what is wrong will not help. This could go away at any time, but as of today, we believe this to be the case.

6 months is the earliest we've had anyone report normal rankings for a new site. Some sites are 8-9 months old and still repressed. At this time it is not clear what triggers the removal of this filter. In fact it is not even clear if it is removed on a site-by-site basis. It may even be a case where all sites started within a several week or month timeframe may be released enmasse.

In the meantime, continue to get good links to your site and build up your content.

Sandbox: Sites that buy lots and lots of links or use link networks or any other linking schemes seem to be affected by a longer term "sandbox" effect where the links seem to be discounted and don't propel the site to the top of the SERP's as we have seen happen in the past.

If you think your site is "sandboxed" there are many theories on the other forums that will give you ideas of formulas and things you can do to get your site "un-sandboxed".

It may also be sandboxed. As far as we are concerned here, they are 2 different issues. If you post and tell us your site is in the sandbox, we will ask you about your linking strategies that may have caused this.

Google is Not the Only Engine Out There

Our advice while you are waiting for your site to "age" is to focus on MSN and Yahoo results and buy PPC if you need more traffic.
