Default Endace Ltd Collaborate With Voltaire To Bring Passive Monitoring To InfiniBand

Endace Limited (“Endace”, LSE/AIM: EDA), a world leader in network monitoring, latency measurement and application acceleration solutions, is pleased to announce a new collaborative agreement with Voltaire Ltd. and a new product development.
Endace is participating in this week’s Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”) Technology Exhibition and Conference in New York City.

COLLABORATION WITH VOLTAIRE TO BRING PASSIVE MONITORING TO INFINIBAND
Combination of passive monitoring solution and high performance switching improves operators’ ability to analyse and tune InfiniBand deployments
Endace is working with Voltaire Ltd. to deliver passive monitoring capabilities for InfiniBand™-based interconnect solutions in high performance computing (HPC) environments and data centres. Endace is the recognised leader in passive monitoring solutions with the Ninja InfiniBand portfolio providing an exclusive combination of manageable network taps, high speed capture platforms and analytical software. Voltaire develops InfiniBand-based server and storage switching and software solutions that improve application performance and efficiency in data centres.
“Endace is first to market in delivering our passive monitoring solution for InfiniBand infrastructures,” said Steve Gleave, VP of Marketing at Endace. “While InfiniBand is well accepted in high-performance computing environments across multiple industries, there was a strong unmet need for performance monitoring tools – particularly in financial services, where lost milliseconds can mean lost millions. Our relationship with Voltaire will help bring Endace’s performance monitoring solutions to these customers worldwide.”
InfiniBand is an industry standard technology for the interconnection of HPC systems and enterprise applications. The combination of high bandwidths at 10 or 20 gigabits/second, low latency and scalability makes it the interconnect of choice to power many of the world's largest and fastest computer systems and enterprise data centres. Voltaire builds on this technology to deliver director-class (i.e. large scale) switches, routers, adapters and software. Together Endace and Voltaire can now deliver solutions that passively capture traffic on single data rate (10 gigabits/second) and double data rate (20 gigabits/second) links, measure packet delay and jitter and deliver total visibility across the complete network infrastructure, with zero impact on network performance.
“Financial services companies are turning increasingly to Voltaire to help them cut latency from their market data infrastructure and to build out unified fabrics in their data centres,” commented Amir Prescher, VP Business Development at Voltaire. “The ability to analyse and tune these InfiniBand-based fabrics is of significant value in providing low latency architectures and rapid troubleshooting. The combination of Voltaire’s Grid Director™ switches and software and Endace’s LAN/InfiniBand monitoring portfolio provides an optimum solution in the most demanding of environments.”
IEEE1588 SUPPORT ADDED FOR PRECISION CLOCK SYNCHRONISATION
Provides additional option for accurate synchronisation of multiple monitoring and measurement probes, regardless of location
Endace today announced the availability of IEEE1588 support for their network monitoring product portfolio. IEEE1588 (known also as Precision Time Protocol, PTP) is an industry-standard protocol that enables precise synchronisation of clocks in measurement and control systems across local area networks. Endace is incorporating this standard to provide additional, highly accurate time-stamping and synchronisation capabilities for their latency measurement and network monitoring solutions.
“Using GPS and CDMA-based clock feeds, Endace has built an envied reputation for accurate time-stamping capabilities in environments where the needs for precise measurement and network tuning are paramount” said Stuart Wilson, CTO at Endace. “Customers have also been asking for IEEE1588 as a means to synchronise multiple appliances and provide traffic time-stamping with sub-microsecond granularity in locations where wiring for GPS receivers might not be practical and CDMA signals are not always available. Our DAG card IEEE1588 solution meets this requirement by distributing highly accurate atomic clock feeds across local area networks, alleviating the need for independent timing sources at each location.”
The IEEE1588 protocol was designed to support system-wide synchronisation accuracy in the sub-microsecond range with minimal network and local clock computing resources. Endace DAG® (data acquisition and generation) cards can now generate and terminate IEEE1588 timing information for accurate synchronisation of distributed monitoring platforms. This timing information can be passed between cards using standard category 5 cabling.
