Ripping Protected Files from Audio CDsI have audio CDs which I would like to copy/burn into additional CDs so that I could pass them around. The extensions in the originals are ".cda",... e.g Track01.cda, Track02.cda, etc. I was told in previousposts that the "cda" extension means that these tracks are protected and I will have to "rip" them firstbefore I could burn them. Otherwise my burned CD is completely useless and no one would be ableto hear the tracks. I was also advised that I could use Windows Media Player for the rip.O.K. ... I inserted my original CD into my CD drive and activated WMP and clicked on the Rip buttonand saw (on the bottom) that "supposedly" all the tracks will be ripped into my C:\Documents andSettings......./My Music folder, and then (I thought) I would be able to burn them. Now, please forgive me as this is the first time I am trying to burn audio CDs, I would think that:1 - Shouldn't I have been prompted first on which format I wanted these tracks to be ripped (Wav, MP3, etc.)?2 - What happened to the tracks which were supposed to be ripped? They did not appear at all in my My Music folder? Where did they go?What am I doing wrong? Can anyone assist me, slowly, as what other steps I should be taking? Thanks ....
