Default Next-Gen Console Crime Continues

Until Sony can manage to deliver on their claim of shipping 2 million PS3s worldwide by the end of 2006, and 6 million by March of 2007, the PS3 is going to be in high demand. In such high demand, in fact, that unsavory characters everywhere will continue to resort to crime.
According to a recent report in the Concord Monitor, $20,000 worth of systems and games have disappeard from an EB Games in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Investigators believe the theft could be connected to a series of thefts that spreads across Massachusetts and Rhode Island. If this is indeed the case, those responsible seem to be targeting the PS3 and 360 due to super high demand.
Detective Matt Fleming has issued a disturbing warning to coincide with the investigation- these thieves may expand their efforts to target homes with these new systems, so he suggets owners "secure them in your homes as best you can." Of course, we're probably not dealing with criminal masterminds, here: apparently, they attempted to steal the floor model at EB, but couldn't manage to get around the metal cabinet housing the console.
If they can't handle a kiosk, maybe those of you who own a PS3 or 360 should be content with a simple lock on your door.
